Green False Hellebore (American False Hellebore) (Poisonous) (Veratrum viride)

May 28, 2012 Southeastern, New Hampshire This plant is poisonous, the root being the most poisonous part. However, Native Americans and herbalists have used minute amounts of the rhizome medicinally, harvested in the Winter when the poison levels are at their lowest.
