Smooth Winged Burning Bush (Winged Spindle Tree) (Euonymus alatus): Images

May 16, 2012 Southeastern, New Hampshire This “burning bush”s is supposed to have bright red leaves in the Fall. It is distinguished from other Euonymus species by the leaf petioles being shorter than 5 mm (usually 1-3 mm) and the corky wings on the branchlets. (See last image below.)
